Quick answer

A group airport transfer moves an entire team, wedding party, or delegation to or from the airport in one vehicle instead of a scatter of cars. Commuter Shuttle Co. runs group transfers to and from all three major New York airports — John F. Kennedy International (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), and Newark Liberty International (EWR) — with flight tracking, meet-and-greet, and luggage-rated vehicles from a 14-seat Sprinter to a 55-seat motorcoach.

One bus beats a fleet of cars

For anything over four or five travelers, a single shuttle is simpler and cheaper than three or four black cars: one pickup time, one driver, one luggage plan, one invoice. We track the inbound flight so the vehicle is curbside when the group clears the terminal, and hold the whole party together instead of losing stragglers to separate cars.

The three airports at a glance

JFK sits about 15 miles from Midtown in southeastern Queens via the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678) — plan 45–75 minutes in traffic. LaGuardia is the closest at roughly 8–9 miles up the Grand Central Parkway or BQE — usually 25–45 minutes. Newark (EWR) is about 16 miles across the Hudson via the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel and the NJ Turnpike (I-95) — 40–70 minutes plus tunnel tolls. See the airport transfer pages for terminal-by-terminal detail.

Luggage and terminals

Our shuttles carry rear cargo wells (Sprinter and mini-bus) or full underfloor bays (mini-coach and motorcoach), so a group and its bags travel in one vehicle. On arrivals the chauffeur meets the group at the designated terminal pickup point; on departures we build in curb time so a 40-person group can unload and check in without a scramble.

The fleet

Shuttle buses, 14 to 55 seats

Every vehicle is a shuttle bus — no sedans. Pick by headcount and luggage; a planner will confirm the right mix for your route.

The honest comparison

Is a chartered shuttle better than rideshare or your own fleet?

For a group that travels together on a schedule, a chartered shuttle is almost always cheaper and more reliable than pooling rideshares or buying and staffing your own buses. Here is how the options line up.

Factor Commuter Shuttle Co. Pooled rideshare Own company fleet
Cost for 20+ ridersOne flat vehicle rateMultiplies per car, per tripCapital + drivers + garage
One driver & one invoiceYesNo — many carsYou employ the drivers

Recurring reliabilitySame route, same driverDifferent car each timeHigh, if fully staffed

Rideshare comparison assumes standard app pricing; surge multipliers of 1.5×–3× are common at weekday rush, in rain or snow, and around major NYC events. Fixed shuttle rates do not surge.

Common questions

Group Airport Transfer — questions we hear

Do you serve JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark?

Yes — all three. We run group transfers to and from John F. Kennedy (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), and Newark Liberty (EWR) around the clock.

Do you track flights?

Yes. We monitor the inbound flight and adjust the pickup so the vehicle is curbside when your group clears the terminal, at no extra charge for normal delays.

How many passengers and bags fit?

From 14 in a Sprinter to 55–56 in a motorcoach, each with dedicated luggage space — rear cargo on the smaller vehicles and full underfloor bays on the coaches.

Is one shuttle cheaper than several black cars?

For groups over four or five, usually yes — one vehicle means one driver and one flat rate instead of multiplying per-car fares, and it keeps the party together.

What does a group airport transfer cost?

One-way transfers are quoted per vehicle and airport plus tolls — for example a Sprinter from Midtown to JFK starts around $260. Call for a firm flat rate.
